FAQ
We generally open 30 minutes prior to the start of the first show unless we are playing a Met Opera or putting up a live show, in those cases we open 60 minutes prior.
Currently we do not require you to take any extra precautions. We do have a brand new MERV 16 hospital grade air exchange system and we also provide masks to whomever may wish to wear one.
The Rockwell Atrium is quite simply the main theatre area of the Cape Cinema that inhabits our stage and screen. We refer to it as the Rockwell Atrium due to the legendary mural designed by Rockwell Kent that graces our ceiling.
For the moment Gift Cards are only available at the cinema, but we hope to bring digital gift cards to you in the near future.
If no showtimes can be seen on the website then the film you are looking at is not yet ticketed or available. Dates represent the best play date (for special screenings) or the opening Friday (for extended films) and showtimes will become available as the schedule is finalized and ticketed.
We take credit cards, debit cards, and digital payments including American Express and Discover. We also take all Gift Cards purchased through us or those usable as credit cards. We are an independent theater so Fandango, Regal, AMC, and similar gift cards are not accepted here. Though, if you have a Fandango gift card, you can find our screenings on their website and use it there to purchase tickets.
The movie begins roughly between 10 minutes after the scheduled time, allowing for trailers and event previews. This number varies so ensure you’re here early enough. Very occasionally it will be exceptionally busy and we may hold the film to get everyone into the cinema, but this rarely sets the film back more than 10 minutes. In the case of events or other unique screenings, start times may be delayed for large crowds or be preceded by interviews or a short introduction.
This question has popped up a couple times since we moved to a cashless system. 99% of the time the individual forgot that they renewed a membership or that they used their card a second time for concessions. Many folks pass through our lobby and what might seem a random charge that doesn’t line up with ticket costs often sounds like wine, popcorn, and candy to us. If you have a charge that you don’t recognize we can attempt to help you figure out what it may have been, but we cannot make any guarantees. If you have been charged for a membership that didn’t generate or accidentally purchased an additional membership, we can work with you to figure that out as well.
We actively discourage you from separating from your group while in line, especially when it is busy. As many know, the lobby is small and keeping track of who has purchased tickets is hectic during busy shows, at best. By remaining together through the ticket line we can help ensure that both lines move as fast as possible throughout the entire pre-film period. We also encourage you to have an idea of what you will be getting and have enough hands with you. We are patient and flexible about holding items for a second trip and helping you decide which beer you’ll like, but please do not sneak out of the ticket line to buy 3 people worth of concessions and then use the side counter to hold it all while you await your party and tickets.
The best way you can help us get you the appropriate discounts in a timely manner is by having your card ready when you get to box office. While we can look you up if you have forgotten the card or if your partner holds on to the card, swiping the card is the fastest way to look up your membership. If you are inquiring about or expecting another discount, such as senior discounts, it also always helps to let us know or ask about it before we begin processing your payment!
In the rare cases that weather forces us to close down the cinema due to something like power loss, we will do our best to send out an email, post something on the website, and alert social media. Sometimes, in the more extreme power outage cases, we are unable to make any such updates beyond a note on the door. In these scenarios we apologize but there is little we can do. However, we will accept those tickets to other screenings and, in the case of an event, work hard to reschedule what was meant to be played. Remember, calling the Cinema will generate the computerized menu regardless of whether we have power or not and is not a good indicator as to whether we will be open. Moreover, social media is the most accessible without power by using our phones and the most likely to be updated in power outage scenarios.
Adult – $11.00
Senior – $9.00
Child – $7.00
Tickets can be purchased online through our website or at the box office.
This is, unfortunately, a not an uncommon occurrence and there are many reasons for it. First, give it a few more minutes to send and if it doesn’t show up then make sure it didn’t wind up blocked, deleted, or sent to spam if you can. Second, if it is a heavily sold show that might sell out (like a concert or major event) shoot us an email and we can check for you. Third, when you do come in, have your name ready so that we can look up the ticket. We can also find purchases by swiping the credit card used to make them. Finally, we suggest you refrain from purchasing additional tickets before confirming as to whether the first transaction went through or not.
Refunds and exchanges can only be processed at the box office.
In the end that will be up to you, but we can offer a few words of warning. Refunds cannot be processed automatically if you don’t show, nor can they be applied retroactively. If, for any reason, you are unable to make it to the show and we find your ticket has not been claimed we can provide a pass for a future screening. If you are in a unique situation, learn that you won’t make it ahead of time, or otherwise have questions about tickets you have already purchased, please feel free to send us an email.
If this is the case, then tickets are not yet available for the film or event you are interested in. We suggest signing up for our emails if you haven’t already and just keeping an eye out for the tickets to go live. Announcements are also made via social media, so following us there could also help!
In order to access membership pricing you must have a membership login. Provided you are logged in and your membership is current, the option for membership pricing will be available to you if available for the show. If you do not see them and believe you should, please refrain from purchasing normally priced tickets and instead come into box office a few minutes early to see if we need to renew, if membership prices exist for that show, or if there is another problem we can solve.
While we understand that charging extra for online tickets may not be ideal, we keep the price point for that surcharge as low as possible. It’s purpose is to help offset the costs of maintaining online ticket sales which is a convenience for our patrons.

Yes, if you bought tickets online please have the bar code (most ideal), your name, confirmation number, or the card you made the purchase with ready when you get to the ticket booth.
Purchasing tickets online guarantees you a seat in the theater and no matter how late you come, if you bought a ticket online there should be an empty seat waiting for you. It is important for us to ensure tickets are appropriately tracked and that everyone entering the theater has actually purchased one. We cannot know that without checking you in first. Unfortunately, as the result of both a small staff and small lobby, we will not be able to accommodate a separate ticket line for those who pre-purchased. We do our best when it is exceptionally busy, but unless otherwise specified by our staff, please be patient, wait in line, and we will get you into the cinema ASAP.
We do not mail out membership cards. If you have purchased a new membership, let us know when you come in. We can look you up and give you a physical card.
Just ask us for a replacement the next time you come in!
Double check to make sure you are logged in. If you haven’t created a log in, please head over to the membership page to do that. If you are logged in and it still isn’t appearing, that could be one of two problems. Membership discounts are not available for that show or your account is out of date. For either possibility, we suggest you hold off and come on in to buy the tickets. We can check on your account status while you’re here.
While you could renew your membership for an additional year at the senior rate, we can also take care of things manually. Just let us know the next time you’re in and we will write down your name and what needs to be changed. Please be aware that the change can take up to 2 weeks to process in the system this way. Just make sure you mention you’re a senior if you come in again before then so we can give you the right price!
We have an entrance that is accessible and without stairs on the side of the building facing the parking lot. There are signs to indicate which door it is and a doorbell to get our attention. Please be aware that we must come down to the door to open it and will be there as soon as we can, but it may take a moment if things are busy or there is only one employee in the lobby.
We have a number of headsets that fit over your head and produce the same sound as our theater speakers. For most new release films, there is also a narrative audio channel which plays a narrated track for the visually impaired. Unfortunately, we do not currently have dual channel headsets, but will make announcements if and when we continue to improve these features.
We have a few pairs of caption glasses that many folks have had great success with. If you need or want these, they take a moment to get out, so being here a little early helps. When you use them try to spend a moment making adjustments and reading the movie quotes at your seat so that we might solve any problems before the film starts. We also offer Open Caption screenings every Tuesday!
They do not. Purchasing products helps to offset our overhead costs and contributes to our success and growth but is not considered a “donation”.
It does not. Purchasing a membership directly benefits our organization and contributes to our success and growth but is not considered a “donation”.
Thank you for your contribution! However, donations made to the organization are completely separate from any services or products you purchase from us.
No, we are separate entities and donations made to one go to benefit that specific organization and not the other. In other words a donation made to Cape Cinema Inc. does not benefit or influence the Cape Playhouse and vice versa.
